These indicators consist of flags suspended across the pool width at specific distances from the pool ends, allowing backstroke swimmers to count strokes and prepare for turns without lifting their heads to see the wall.

The flags are positioned according to competition standards (typically 5 meters from each end for 25-meter pools, or 5 yards for 25-yard pools) and are brightly colored for high visibility. For 25m/50m pools: flags are 5m from each end. For 25yd pools: flags are 5 yards from each end. For 50m Olympic pools: flags are also 5m from each end.
Flags should be 1.8-2.5 meters (6-8 feet) above the water surface, high enough for swimmers to see clearly but not interfere with other pool activities or lighting.
Yes! While essential for backstroke, they're also useful for freestyle flip turns and general lane awareness. Many swimmers use them as reference points for all strokes.
We offer temporary mounting systems including deck stands, wall brackets, and tension wire systems that don't require permanent modifications to the pool structure.
