- Swimming Pool Algae Brush
The Swimming Pool Algae Brush is specifically engineered for removing stubborn algae growth from pool surfaces. Featuring extra-stiff bristles and specialized brush head designs, these brushes effectively dislodge algae colonies that regular brushes cannot remove. The aggressive cleaning action breaks the algae's grip on pool surfaces, allowing filtration and chemical treatments to work more effectively.
Our algae brushes are available with stainless steel bristles for concrete and plaster pools, and heavy-duty nylon bristles for vinyl and fiberglass surfaces. The brush heads are designed with reinforced backing plates and secure bristle anchoring to withstand the pressure required for algae removal. Some models include corner wheels for maneuverability and angled heads for better surface contact in hard-to-reach areas.
Algae brushes are essential tools for combating algae outbreaks and preventing recurrence. When used in conjunction with appropriate chemical treatments, they provide a mechanical cleaning action that disrupts algae colonies and removes their protective biofilm. Regular use during algae treatment protocols significantly improves treatment effectiveness and reduces chemical requirements.
Use an algae brush when you see visible algae spots, green/black discoloration, or slippery surfaces. Also use during shock treatments to help break up algae colonies for better chemical penetration.
NO! Stainless steel brushes will damage vinyl liners and fiberglass surfaces. Only use heavy-duty nylon algae brushes on vinyl, fiberglass, or painted surfaces.
Rinse thoroughly with fresh water immediately after use. Soak in a mild bleach solution (10:1 water to bleach) for 30 minutes to kill any remaining algae spores, then rinse and dry completely before storage.
When used correctly with the proper bristle type for your surface, algae brushes clean effectively without causing damage. Avoid excessive pressure and never use circular scrubbing motions on delicate surfaces.
Inspect bristles monthly. Replace when bristles show significant wear (more than 30% reduction in length) or when they become matted. Typically lasts 1-2 seasons with regular use.
